All About Me

My name is Lynn Wheeland, and I am the Reading Specialist at Young Scholars of Central PA Charter School (YSCP).  I am also the 3rd to 5th grade cluster chair and the coach of the elementary competitive reading team.  The many hats that I wear at YSCP allow me to share my desire to instill a love for learning with students and staff in every grade level.  I love teaching at YSCP and look forward to a wonderful school year.

I received my undergraduate degree in elementary education from Clarion University of PA in 2002.  I later returned to Clarion University to earn both a Master's of Early Childhood Education and my Reading Specialist certification.  I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades as well as worked as an autism specialist.  My educational goal is to work towards my Doctorate in literacy education, but I am not quite to that point yet!

In my non-teaching time I tend to stay pretty busy with my crazy family.  My husband Dale is a contractor (and my house is always under construction).  My daughter Erin is in 11th grade at Penns Valley High School and my son Matthew is in 5th grade at YSCP.  We also have a bit of a zoo with 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 axolotls.  Needless to say, my house is always full of noise!  When I do get some free time, I enjoy going to Hershey Park, spending time outdoors, and working in my garden.  You can usually find me hiding behind vines in my jungle of a vegetable garden!
